Grant writing is an essential part of a scientific career; therefore, honing grant-writing skills is an important part of an academic education!
In this second session, we will continue to deepen our introduction to writing academic research proposals, placing a strong focus on academic English usage. We will cover:
- characteristics of letters of inquiry and pre-proposals
- important linguistic aspects of proposal abstracts and specific aims
- ideal ingredients of the background and significance section(s)
- ways to describe innovative aspects of your proposal
- how and where to cite preliminary findings to support your aims
- the use of language to convince reviewers that you can achieve your proposed aims
This session is appropriate for PhD students in the final year of their studies or early-stage postdoctoral researchers.
