Energy from the power of the sun - sustainable and silent: the University of Graz is pursuing the strategy of generating hot water and electricity in a clean way.

Solar thermal systems have been providing the right indoor climate at the University Sports Center and the Chemistry Building at Universitätsplatz 1 for many years. Photovoltaic modules have been installed on the roofs of the University Library, the Wall building, the RESOWI Center and, more recently, on the "Chemistry Tower" at Heinrichstraße 36 and the Training and Diagnostics Center at Rosenhain. These support the University of Graz's power supply with the help of the sun.

And further investments are being made: Planned are systems at Mozartgasse 14, on the roof of the Universitätsplatz 4 building - the renovation of which has just started - and in future at the Graz Center of Physics.
The University of Graz aims to generate a total of 1831 kWp of electricity itself by 2030 - that's the annual consumption of around 460 single-family homes.
