While the expansion of photovoltaics, wind power and hydrogen is essential, it comes with many technical, economic and legal challenges. At the moment, renewable energy sources cannot meet our energy needs on a permanent, reliable basis. "Cheap electricity is the linchpin of every industry," emphasises legal expert Stefan Storr. He sees the solution in an innovative, technology-open, and competitive EU internal market that promotes sustainability. A cross-border electricity market should be able to meet pan-European demand. Storr is researching the legal framework under which the European Union’s ambitious energy policy goals could be achieved.
