Technological innovations are transforming society, the economy and science. Social media are becoming opinion leaders, algorithms are controlling our consumer behavior, artificial intelligence (AI) is supporting medical diagnostics and treatments. Sebastian Scholz looks at the regulation of technological innovations. The law must ensure that their potential can unfold and that risks are contained at the same time. One focus of his research concerns the digitalization of medicine. Here, Scholz analyzes, for example, which requirements the use of artificial intelligence must meet in order to comply with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation, the Medical Devices Regulation and the AI Regulation.
