In war, human life and dignity do not count for much. But even in times of peace, they are at risk all too easily. This is demonstrated by armed conflicts as well as by current political developments that threaten democracy and the rule of law. Gerd Oberleitner deals with the question how international law can guarantee human security and the observance of human rights. As the holder of a UNESCO Chair, the legal expert is well connected with colleagues from other disciplines. Together with his team, he contributes to raising awareness of the significance of human rights and ensuring their protection in all areas of society.
