International students / university entrance qualification outside Austria
If you did not complete your Matura or degree in Austria, you are considered an international prospective student. Even if you graduated abroad as an Austrian, you are formally an international prospective student.
What does this mean? Your degree must be checked during the application process. This takes longer than for national students, as there are of course many different international school or university degrees. The university may also need translations and certifications.
You did not obtain your degree in Austria and do not have EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship? Then the tuition fee differs.

Language certificates
Most of our degree programmes are in German. In fact, all of the Bachelor's/Diploma courses are. You therefore need a high level of German for these courses.
You have no knowledge of German or less than A2 | Unfortunately, you cannot apply for a degree programme. First, you will have to learn German at level A2 and obtain a language certificate that will be accepted for the application. |
You have German language skills at level A2 | You can apply with a suitable language certificate. You will then be admitted to the preparation programme and learn German intensively. Once you have reached level C1, you can start your studies. |
You have German language skills at level C1 | You can apply with a suitable language certificate. Once your application is completed, you can start your studies. |
Some Master's programmes are taught in English. If you are interested in one of these courses, you will need a language certificate for your English language skills (no German language skills required).
