A look behind the scenes of the cultural sector, practice-oriented and interdisciplinary teaching

Fields of action in literature

Understanding & communicating

Reading or liking, writing or swiping, Insta or theater, rhyme or reel - literature finds the most diverse ways, media and formats to reach people and have a public impact.

The module explores the analog or digital venues and channels in which literature takes place and through which it is communicated. If you want to know and experience how to make literature and what to do with literature, what it is about and how to deal with it, then this is the right place for you. You can experience and help shape literature as a creative practice and as a media production, get to know institutions such as the Schauspielhaus Graz or the Literaturhaus Graz and train skills that are essential for working in the cultural sector.

After completing this Interdisciplinary Master's module, you will be able to...

  • analyze literature as a complex field in an overall social context in a differentiated way
  • examine literature from an aesthetic point of view and describe it praxeologically as a creative process
  • understand publication and event formats in the interplay between literary-aesthetic aspirations and public appeal
  • design ways of presenting literary content and implement them in exchange with public institutions (e.g. Literaturhaus Graz, Schauspielhaus Graz)
  • independently plan and organize analogue and digital formats of literature mediation
