Effective altruism is about answering a simple question: How can we use our limited resources to help others the most? Rather than just doing what feels right, we use evidence and careful analysis to find the most important issues to work on. But it's no use answering the question if you don't act on it. Effective altruism is also about walking the talk. It's about using your time, your career and your money generously to do as much good as possible.

EGEA is a network of European geography students (and young graduates) for the purpose of international knowledge exchange and social interaction between like-minded people from all over Europe. In addition to the five annual congresses and the various scientific seminars, there is also enough time to live geography and make friends at national weekends and other events. This works particularly well at Exchanges, where you introduce a student to your home town and in return learn about their home from a student perspective.

The German Debating Club at the Institute of German Studies provides a platform for an open exchange of opinions. Each event is held under a different theme and usually opens with a keynote speech by one of the speakers. This is followed by a lively discussion round in which participants also have the opportunity to ask the respective lecturer questions about their specialism. Both German studies-specific and current topics from all other disciplines will be selected. Students of all subjects are welcome, with a special focus on Master's students of German Studies. Over the years, an interdisciplinary and therefore all the more diverse group of participants has emerged.
