Arbitration Commission at the University of Graz
Tasks of the Arbitration Commission (pursuant to § 43 Universities Act 2002)
- Mediation in disputes between members of the University
- Deciding on complaints by the Equal Opportunities Working Group due to discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religion or belief, age or sexual orientation by the decision of a university body
- Decision on objections regarding the incorrect composition of the Equal Opportunities Working Group
- Decision on objections regarding the deficiency of the election proposal of the Equal Opportunities Working Group

Two members and two substitute members are nominated every two years by the Senate, the University Council and the Equal Opportunities Working Group. The members of the Arbitration Commission are not bound by any instructions or orders when exercising this function.
Matters that are subject to legal proceedings (administrative proceedings) and performance assessments are excluded from the Arbitration Commission's review. In the performance of its duties, the Arbitration Commission shall work towards reaching agreement between the parties involved. All bodies and members of the University are obliged to provide the members of the Arbitration Commission with information on the matter and to take part in contact discussions.
